Before you can begin playing on Broken Seals, you must first decide on what type of character you will be. This includes choosing an appropriate name, gender, and nationality. For players that are not familiar with Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series, it is recommended that you do a bit of research on this world, beginning with our links page before continuing on.
Once you have chosen a nationality, you may choose the class of character you wish to play. Broken Seals gives you three choices:
Channeler
Rogue
Warrior
Once you have chosen a class, you will begin rolling for your base statistics. (Please follow the links above to find out the maximum possible statistics for the class you have chosen.) Since rolling for base stats can be a long and tedious process, most experienced players will use an autoroller to assist them.
Finally, once your base stats have been chosen, you will be allowed to choose your first set of skills. Be aware that you have up to 60 creation points with which to buy your skills. By using 60 or fewer creation points, your character's experience needed to level will be set to 2000. It is possible to choose more skills in creation, using more than 60 creation points. However, be aware that this will set your experience needed to level to a higher number, causing your leveling process to be longer. Skills not purchased during creation may be obtained through one of many NPC trainers available in game.
Players who have chosen to create a Channeler will have an opportunity to gain weaves as well as skills during creation. The cost to gain many skills are doubled for channelers, since this class of character is supposed to rely on their channeling abilities rather than physical skills. However, it is usually not necessary to spend creation points (or trains once you are in game) on weaves, as the majority of them may be taught by other players. To learn more about teaching and learning weaves, please follow the Channeler link above.
Once you have your basic skills, you will be ready to level. On Broken Seals you have several options. It is possible to level alone, or solo, though as you gain levels, experience earned will decrease, making leveling longer and more difficult to do alone. You may also group with other players of similar level, helping one another gain experience. It is best to team with other players close to your level, as there is an experience penalty for grouping with those much more experienced than yourself. (ie. you will get more points from the same mob alone or with someone of similar level, than grouped with someone of high level). For more information, try our leveling page.
